EMAC Multi-Discipline Course
The development of the EMAC Multi-Discipline Course marks another milestone in the history of the Compact. Prior to 2004, EMAC deployments were primarily comprised of emergency managers and National Guard. The 2004 hurricanes that stuck Florida opened EMAC deployments to response and recovery personnel from a variety of disciplines.
Today, 40 of the 54 EMAC Member States have adopted intrastate agreements that allow for the deployment of non-state owned assets under EMAC and set the stage for a unified mutual aid system that is coordinated through the state emergency management agencies, ensuring a unified response. This course recgonizes the role of all of the Response and Recovery disciplines that deploy under EMAC and focuses on providing education in the effort to make EMAC deployments more effecive and expedient.
The EMAC Multi-Discipline course provides a comprehensive understanding of EMAC - from history and governance to reimbursement. It is focused on response and recovery personnel who would deployment through state emergency management agencies under EMAC, their coordination with the state emergency management agencies, and a cohesive mutual aid system.
These instructional materials are designed to be taught by an instructor and are provided with both an instructor and student manual. Individuals who wish to teach the course should attend the FEMA EMI E430 EMAC Train-The-Trainer course where they will both review the course with experienced EMAC instructors and receive classroom materials.
We invite you to review the collection of course modules and look forward to your feedback. All modules are provided below as a PowerPoint presentation (PDF), Instructor Manual (PDF), Student Manual (PDF), and short description.
